On Veterans Day, Dr. Michael Allen, Allen Interactions Founder & CEO, and Steve Lee, Chief Delivery Officer, spoke to WCCO TV about our work with The Veterans' Administration (VA).
PTSD is a challenge for many Veterans. Veterans adjust to civilian life after experiencing a completely different world in the military, sometimes with traumatic and life-threatening events that can never be forgotten.
The Veterans’ Administration (VA) continues to offer support and counseling services to millions of Vets through face-to-face meetings. However, the number of people needing help continues to escalate and the best support comes from being available frequently over an extended period of time.
We’re so very pleased to have had the opportunity to work with the VA to create a free, 24/7, digital version of their innovative support programs. This online program, called STAIR (Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation), helps suffering Vets take steps toward gaining a sense of confidence and safety regarding their own and individual behaviors in civilian society.

Using the online system, Vets identify the triggers that make them uncomfortable, anxious, and feel challenged or out of control. They then identify things they might do in settings that would likely have more positive outcomes than they have been experiencing. With the online support tools, Vets log their successes and failures, identify what’s working and not, and work step-by-step towards increasingly effective behavior patterns while they also attend to their physical health and constructive thought patterns.
Allen Interactions has undertaken extensive work in areas of physical and mental health with incredible outcomes. For free, the public can access a version of the STAIR program via ptsd.va.gov.
