The Modern L&D Team: What Skills Do We Need?

“We need to bring our training program into the 21st Century.”

“We need to move our training online to stay competitive and attract millennials.”

“With this new LMS installation our training will be revolutionized.”

“We’ve purchased a Storyline license, so now you can put the New Employee Orientation training online.”

“Here are the details of our next product launch. We will need the online training course ready to deliver in two weeks.”

Have you heard statements like these? More importantly, have you MADE statements like these?

The cultural, technological, and economic pressure to revamp training departments and the training they produce is immense. As leaders are called on to respond to these pressures, it is exceedingly difficult to make good choices in strategy, staffing, and professional team development in this age of constant change.

The problem is made more difficult when e-learning is part of the solution because we are all surrounded by long-established models that fail to create lasting performance change.

It really wouldn’t be so difficult if we were able to own a few core ideas:

  • Creating effective e-learning requires specialized skills in instructional design, user experience, and technical development.
  • It is nearly impossible to grow expertise without practice and guidance.
  • Great e-learning is within anyone’s reach.

We at Allen Interactions have been practicing this discipline for more than 25 years. We know what it takes to design, develop, and manage training projects. The programs we create for our clients are usually part of a blended strategy, but almost always involve a significant online component.

It has always been part of our mission to share our expertise with the wider learning profession, and we are pleased to be officially extending that commitment through the Allen Academy. The Academy will provide training and accreditation for professionals in today’s training environment. Curricula in four diverse colleges span areas such as design and development, game-based learning, learning project management, and results evaluation are designed to provide the skills needed for and effective and well-rounded training team.

For leaders and managers struggling with these decisions, we invite you to view the 30-minute webinar below to introduce the Academy and its offerings. We have been sharing our story specifically with designers and developers, but we know that your questions and perspectives as decision makers are slightly different. This webinar will target the information more specifically to your point of view.

Please join us as we launch this exciting opportunity for your organization.
